So what happens when you get a bunch of veterans, their significant others, a BBQ, some great home cooking, a beautiful spring fed river, and good friends together?  What you might expect, a really fun afternoon sharing stories, sharing some flies, and taking the time to reconnect with each other with a common goal of getting veteran's together to get their fish on...

Again we were all marveled with Nelle's wonderful homemade baking with 3 different types of cupcakes.  She seems to make sure we all get a good taste of home when she is in charge of the menu, and now has set up a sort of ritual with making sure we have some baked goods from her kitchen each time. With Rick Demars manning the grill we had plenty of food and beverage to soak up, and yours truly ended up waddling around the river most of the afternoon with a food hangover.

The usual suspects were all in attendance including our friends from Bend, La Pine, Sunriver, Sisters, and even a couple that came from over the hill to join us for the day.  The Kreft clan brought out a great assortment of flies that seemed to do the trick for everyone today, and we must take the time to thank them for their help.  Central Oregon Flyfishers President Lee Ann Ross made it out and along with Peter Gustavson from Sunriver Anglers being there, and it just goes to show how much support we get from the local angling community and the clubs here in Central Oregon.  We even had some fun hanging out with the guys from 10 Gauge Sports who have offered to sponsor our organization with proceeds from their online product offerings.

While I could go on and on about how much fun we had, the only thing that seemed to matter to any of us was making sure our veterans were enjoying themselves.  To that end, I think a few thousand words in the form of the images below will suffice.  If you want to come out and join us for some fun and fishing please contact us.  We are always looking for more veterans here in Central Oregon to take out on outings, and it doesn't matter what your status us, retired, active, disabled, or fully able.  We just want to give something back for your service to our national community.  Freedom isn't free, it's paid for by those of you who serve, and we thank you for it.
